Aid for Yemen to fight malaria

The Yemeni authorities say the country has received more than six-million dollars in international aid to fight malaria.

Yemen's health minister, Abdullah Abdel-Wali Nasher, said the aid had come from a variety of donors, including the World Health Organisation, UNICEF and the European Union.

He said the money would be used to set up a research centre to fight malaria.

The disease is reported to have killed more than two thousand people in Yemen in the last three months, with more than seven-hundred-thousand Yemenis being infected between September and November.
