Kiwi duo fit for Test

Stephen Fleming - playing on despite injury

Captain Stephen Fleming and swing bowler Simon Doull have been passed fit to play for New Zealand in the second Test against India.

Both sides are hoping for a prompt start at Wellington's Basin Reserve on Boxing Day after the rain-hit first Test in Dunedin was abandoned as a draw without a ball being bowled.

Fleming is still troubled by a groin problem and team physio Mark Harrison said: "It is not game-threatening, but causes him discomfort when running."

Doull was ruled out of the first Test with a calf injury but bowled flat out in the nets on Christmas Eve and Shayne O'Connor was released from the squad after being put on stand-by.

The two sides have met three times in Wellington with India winning the first match but losing the other two.

They have an excellent batting line-up and will also look to leg-spinner Anil Kumble, who had match figures of eight for 90 in the warm-up game against Wellington.
