Congo meeting postponed

The Zambian Foreign Affairs Ministry says a meeting aimed at halting the fighting in the Democratic Republic of Congo, scheduled for next Monday in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, has been postponed until early next year.

The Zambian Foreign Affairs spokesman gave no explanation for the decision.

However unconfirmed reports say the meeting was put off because no firm agreement on a ceasefire had been achieved, despite intense diplomatic efforts by Zambia.
