Bath boss makes Swift exit

Tony Swift (centre) - a leading figure in Bath's glory years

Former England wing Tony Swift has resigned from his post as non-executive chairman of Bath.

His departure for family and business reasons comes at a difficult time in the club's history following an unprecedented run of five successive league defeats.

Swift was a leading player during Bath's run of success which began in the early 1980s and later became chief executive.

He steered the club through a turbulent period in 1996 when coach Brian Asdhton and director of rugby John Hall left the Recreation Ground.

"We respect his decision and would like to thank him for his past services. Tony has made it clear that he will continue to offer his total support to Andrews Brownsword, Andy Robinson and Bath rugby," said general manager Bob Calleja.
