Tajik and Pakistani ministers talk about Afghanistan


The foreign ministers of Tajikistan and Pakistan have agreed to intensify their efforts to achieve peace in Afghanistan.

A statement issued after talks between the two in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, said the current situation offered a unique prospects for a settlement.

The Tajik Foreign minister, Talbak Nazarov and his counterpart, Sartaj Aziz, also emphasised the need to end outside interference in Afghanistan.

The UN special envoy to Afghanistan, Lakhdar Ibrahimi, visited Islamabad at the weekend for talks with the Taleban which were said to have been inconclusive.
