Indian police say suspected Kashmiri separatists have shot dead at least eight people, believed to be relatives of pro-government militants, near Kulgam town in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Reports said a gang raided three villages near the town, took people from their homes and shot them.

The killings are said to be reprisal attacks for a recent killing of four people believed to be related to separatists.
