Rockets fired at northern Israel

More than a dozen rockets are reported to have been fired into northern Israel from across the border in southern Lebanon.

At least two people are said to have been injured in the town of Kiryat Shmona.

Targets in western Galilee were also hit, but casualties were not immediately known.

Residents had been on alert after Hezbollah guerrillas had vowed to retaliate for yesterday's Israeli air raid on the Beka'a Valley in eastern Lebanon.

A woman and six children were killed in that attack.

The Lebanese prime minister, Salim Hoss, described the attack as a fresh aggression against the Lebanese people.

The Israeli army has expressed regret for killing civilians.

It said the attack was aimed at suspected Hezbollah positions.
