Wednesday, December 23, 1998 Published at 04:17 GMT World: Africa No majority in Central African Republic results The Constitutional Court in the Central African Republic says that no party has an overall majority in parliament after the second and final round of elections earlier this month. The Court said the governing party the Movement for the Liberation of the Central African People which supports President Ange-Felix Patasse, and its allies together won 49% of the 109 seats. Eight opposition parties won 53 seats, with the remaining seven going to independent candidates. The new assembly will be inaugurated on the first of January.
