The Ford Motor Company is recalling more than three million of its vehicles sold in the United States and Canada for checks on possible corrosion.

Theyinclude some of its top-selling models including the Lincoln Continental and the Mercury Sable.

A Ford spokesman said that in less than one percent of the vehicles involved, road salt and moisture could have corroded engine and transmission supports on the subframe.

This could cause the rear of the subframe to drop and make steering difficult.
