One of Britain's best known public speakers, Lord Soper, a Methodist minister whose preaching made him a household name for much of this century, has died at the age of ninety-five.
His outspoken views against war, poverty, capitalism and communism, among many other issues, were heard both from the pulpit and in the open air.
These appearances -- often attracting large crowds -- began in the 1920's and continued until just a few years ago at Speaker's Corner in London's Hyde Park.
He received many awards and was made a life peer in 1965.
