The United States and Britain have denied making new raids against Iraq.

An Iraqi military spokesman said that warplanes had twice violated Iraqi airspace today and had fired two missiles in the south of the country.

He gave no further details.

A British military spokesman said no British planes were involved and the Pentagon also dismissed the report.

It would have been the first military action since the aerial assault ended on Saturday.
