UN humanitarian staff return to Iraq

About one-hundred United Nations workers are returning to Iraq from Jordan to resume humanitarian work disrupted by last week's American-led air strikes.

They will work with the Iraqi Trade Ministry to distribute desperately needed food and medicines, on which it is estimated that more than twenty-million Iraqis depend.

At the same time, local staff from the UN children's agency are continuing to help repair two hospitals damaged by the shock waves of nearby explosions during the air strikes.
