Baby for Sex and the City star
Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker has given birth to a boy, according to reports.

David Perkins Broderick, her first child, was born yesterday morning at Manhattan's Lenox Hill Hospital, the New York Post reported.

Parker, 37, and actor husband Matthew Broderick announced the pregnancy in April.

Their publicist would not confirm the birth, but the news slipped out when a caller claiming to be the daughter of a doctor who helped the delivery told a local radio station.

The actress is planning to return to work next February.

No China studio for Warners

Movie giant Warner Bros has dismissed a claim that it is considering building a $483m (£312m) film studio and tourist attraction in China.

Company spokeswoman Barbara Brogliatti said the report from China's official Xinhua news agency was "false".

Xinhua had reported that Warner executives had toured Linan city in eastern China in order to find a suitable location.

Warner Bros, a unit of the world's biggest media company AOL Time Warner, is one of Hollywood's major film studios responsible for movies like the upcoming Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Eminem for MTV awards

Rapper Eminem leads a host of stars performing live at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Barcelona next month.

He will be joined by artists including Moby, Christina Aguilera, Robbie Williams, Whitney Houston, Pink, Enrique Inglesias, Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Wyclef Jean.

The show, to be broadcast live on MTV UK and Ireland at 2100 GMT on 14 November, is hosted by P Diddy and promises a wealth of guest presenters including Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance, Ms Dynamite and Ronan Keating.

Eminem himself is shortlisted in four categories: Best Male, Best Album, Best Video and Best Hip Hop.

Slam-dunkin' Stones

The Rolling Stones have joined forces with the National Basketball Association in the US to promote the league's new season beginning on Tuesday.

A 30-second "Love It Live" TV advert mixes footage from the group's current North American tour with game action highlights.

The ad depicts the group performing their new single Don't Stop, taken from their compilation album Forty Licks.

Singer Mick Jagger's father, a retired sports professor, helped to make basketball popular in Britain, and coached his son's high school team.

Perry joins father for film role

Friends star Matthew Perry and his father, actor John Bennett Perry, are to appear as father and son in new film The Beginning of Wisdom.

Shooting on the £3m project is expected to begin in April or May after Perry finishes the ninth - and possibly final - series of Friends.

The Beginning of Wisdom is set during the 1970s and would see the Perry duo star as Harley and Del Lemke, whose life is hit by the sudden death of Harley's wife.

It is not the first time the Perrys have played father and son on the big screen. They most recently worked together on the 1997 movie Fools Rush In.

XXX still on top

Action thriller XXX has topped the UK and Ireland box office for the second week running.

The film, starring Vin Diesel as an extreme sports fanatic recruited as a government agent, took £2.045m at British and Irish cinemas over the weekend.

Faring less well was Harrison Ford's atomic submarine caper K-19: The Widowmaker, which managed only sixth place, pulling in £352,000 in receipts, according to charts compiled by Screen International.

The top four places remain unchanged, with XXX, Lilo & Stitch, Red Dragon and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. New at five is Halloween: Resurrection, latest instalment in the John Carpenter franchise.
