Lover found guilty of car attack
Court graphic
A man who tried to kill his lover's husband by running him over with a car has been found guilty of attempted murder.

The court heard Eric Foster, 48, had parked outside the address in Hucknall, Nottingham, night after night, waiting for his moment to strike.

He drove at his victim, Terry Boyce, striking him twice and leaving him with serious injuries.

Foster had wanted to marry Marie Boyce after having a four-month affair with her.

Left home

A jury of eight women and four men at Nottingham Crown Court returned a majority 11-1 verdict.

Mr Justice John Goldring warned Foster, of Laughton Crescent, Hucknall, to expect a lengthy prison term.

Mr Goldring said: "I make it plain that the sentence I shall pass will be a substantial sentence of imprisonment."

The court had been told that he drove into Terry Boyce in March, four months after starting a secret affair with Marie Boyce.

She had been married less than two years and for a short time left the marital home to move in with her lover.

Serious harm

Paul Mann, prosecuting, said that she returned to her home a few weeks later and that her husband had assumed the affair was over.

But she continued to see Foster behind her husband's back.

This culminated in Foster driving his car at Mr Boyce in March causing him serious injuries.

Mr Mann said: "The vehicle was driven deliberately at Mr Boyce, the prosecution say with the intention of killing him or causing him some really serious harm."

Foster was remanded in custody to appear for sentence at a date to be fixed.
