Pensioner dies in gas blast
Gas explosion
Tiles were blown off the bungalow in the blast
An elderly woman who suffered severe burns after a gas explosion at her home has died.

Eva Hickton from Longmoor Road in Long Eaton was treated at Nottingham City Hospital's burns unit following Friday morning's blast.

The 86-year-old died of her injuries during the weekend.

Fire investigators are trying to find out the cause of the explosion, which blew tiles off the roof of Mrs Hickton's bungalow.

They are focusing on a cooker, which could be faulty or may have been left on.

Transco, the gas supply firm, said there were no problems with the mains supply in the area.
