Woman dies in weekend storms
Wreckage of 22-year-old's car in Gloucester Street
A young woman died when a tree hit her car in Oxford
A young woman was killed by a falling tree and thousands of people left without power in Oxfordshire by the weekend's storms.

The 22-year-old woman was killed when an oak tree crushed her silver people carrier in Gloucester Street in Oxford on Sunday.

Her two sisters, aged nine and 13, were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment for minor injuries.

The storms have also left an estimated 3,000 Oxfordshire residents without electricity.

Southern Electric have brought in extra engineers from Scotland to help restore power.

Lorry knocked over by high winds
The winds caused havoc on across the county

Julian Reeves from Southern Electric says the company is doing everything possible to rectify the situation.

"We do get staff in place at an early stage - even to the extent that we transported staff from our sister company, Scottish Hydro Electric from the north of Scotland down on Saturday so they were in position to carry out repairs on the Sunday," she said.

Train services run by First Great Western, Thames Trains and Chiltern Railways are all facing delays and cancellations, due to damage to signals and tracks.

Elaine Wilde, from First Great Western said: "There will be delays, there will be cancellations, but as soon as Railtrack can get the problem solved then we'll get back to normal services."
