Appeal after man found in road
Manchester city centre
Adrian Donald was injured after a night out in the city
Police have made a fresh appeal after a 28-year-old man suffered serious head injuries as he tried to get into a taxi.

Adrian Donald, 28, from Didsbury, was found at Oxford Street, Manchester, with a fractured skull and a blood clot on his brain.

Police believe Mr Donald was trying to get into the cab, which was already occupied, but are unsure whether he was then attacked, or involved in an accident.

Detectives want to trace two women who were talking to Mr Donald just before he was hurt, on Thursday 17 October.

'Surprised'

The women were using a phone box on Oxford Street when they spoke to Mr Donald and his friends.

They walked with him just before the incident, but then disappeared.

Police believe they could be vital witnesses to what happened.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Webster, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "We would also like to speak to three men who were seen in the taxi, one of whom had a shaved head.

"I am also very surprised that the taxi driver has not come forward and that he just drove (away) leaving Adrian in the road."

'Loving family'

Mr Donald's mother, Margaret Donald, has also appealed for help in finding out how her son was injured.

She said: "Adrian is part of a loving family.

"Since this has happened we have all been totally devastated.

"The worst thing has been not knowing. Since he was found in the road he has been heavily sedated and cannot tell us what happened.

"It's been over a week now since this happened and I can't understand why no-one has come forward."
