Blast in Indian state
Police in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal say at least 13 people have been killed when a crude bomb exploded as it was being made inside a house.
Four children were among those killed. The blast happened in the Birbhum district, in the northeast of the state. A senior police official, NC Ghosh, said a number of people were in the house making what he called a crude powerful bomb that exploded accidentally. He said eight people were killed in the blast, and six others died when the house collapsed on them. The police say the dead included political workers. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
