In pictures: Moscow siege aftermath
After the operation to free up to 800 hostages held at a Moscow theatre, there is growing controversy over use of gas by security forces. The gas knocked out the assailants - but also killed more than 100 hostages.
Hundreds are being treated in hospitals, but relatives are being denied visits on security grounds
Some hospitalised hostages were able to see their relatives from afar
Many are still wondering whether loves ones are still alive
President Putin showed emotion on hearing news of the operation, and later addressed the nation
Many Muscovites laid flowers outside the theatre
People also brought toys, as military trucks surrounded the theatre on Sunday
And some lit candles to honour the hostages who lost their lives
