Cars hit with concrete blocks
The Westlink throughpass in Belfast
Blocks were thrown onto cars on the Westlink
Two drivers have escaped injury after concrete blocks were dropped on their cars in Belfast.

The attacks happened before 0630 GMT as the vehicles were travelling under the Clifton Street bridge on the Westlink. Both cars were badly damaged.

In the first incident, a breeze block narrowly missed a front seat passenger. The block went through the windscreen of the second car.

Police Inspector Gareth Magowan warned that someone could have been killed.

"You've got to ask what sort of mindless person would do this sort of thing at this time of the morning? It was indiscriminate.

"We are also issuing a warning to those responsible," he said.

"We are looking at serious charges here - we are looking at attempted murder."
