Day of global peace marches
Thousands of people across the United States have marched against a possible American-led war in Iraq, in the wake of similar protests at the weekend across Europe and the Far East.
More than 10,000 marched on the White House in the US capital
Correspondents say it was the biggest demonstration in the US against a war in Iraq so far
Protests were also held on the east coast of the country, from North Carolina...(AP)
...to Maine, where more than 1,000 protesters converged on the state capitol in Augusta
Meanwhile in Europe, demonstrations were held in towns and cities across Germany (AP)
