Youngster dies after 'gun incident'

The boy was taken to Glasgow's Yorkhill Hospital
A six-year-old boy who was seriously injured following an alleged incident involving a gun has died in hospital.

Joseph Gillespie suffered serious chest injuries at his home in Ferguslie Park Avenue, Paisley, near Glasgow, on Monday.

He was taken to Yorkhill Hospital, Glasgow, where police said he died on Friday evening.

Strathclyde Police said a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Thomas Hegarty, 19, whose address was not disclosed, has appeared in private at Paisley Sheriff Court in connection with the alleged incident.

He made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination.
