Nurse took indecent photos

The governing body for nurses sets rules for conduct
A Northampton nurse has been struck off the nursing register for professional misconduct.

David Cousley Leach was found guilty last year of taking and distributing indecent photographs of a teenage boy.

The nurse, who used to work at St Andrew's Hospital, appeared at a disciplinary inquiry on Friday.

Last year he admitted taking indecent photographs of a 14-year-old boy and distributing them on variious dates in 2000.

Fire-bombed

The Nursing and Midwidfery Council heard how his home was fire-bombed shortly after his conviction.

The inquiry was told that he still lived in fear of a further attack.

He was sentenced to a community rehabilitation order for three years.

The order was made on the condition he attend a sex offenders' programme.

Care standards

His name has also gone on the Sex Offenders' Register.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council sets standards for health care workers.

It can strike off its register those guilty of misconduct, meaning they are no longer able to work as registered practitioners.
