Youth workers face internet inquiry
Worker at a computer
An inquiry has started at Wirral Council
Five youth workers have been suspended over "misuse" of the internet on council computers.

Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council has started an investigation after inappropriate material, believed to be pornography, was found.

The workers are all members of the youth offending team.

The misuse was discovered during routine checks at the council.

A spokeswoman said: "Five staff have been suspended pending an inquiry into the misuse of the internet.

"Internet use across the council is regularly monitored and this will reveal if the system is being misused.

"The extent of the misuse is still being determined".
