Gas blast at pensioner's home
Gas explosion
Tiles were blown off the bungalow in the blast
An elderly woman has been taken to hospital after a gas explosion at her home, thought to be caused by a cooker.

The 86-year-old suffered severe burns after the explosion in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, on Friday morning.

She was taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham where she is described as being in a "stable but serious condition".

Fire investigators are trying to find out the cause of the explosion which blew tiles off the roof of the bungalow in Longmoor Road

Transco, the gas supply firm, said there were no problems with the mains supply in the area.

Investigators are focusing on a cooker which they say could be faulty or may have been left on.
