Criminals gig for accident school
Fun Lovin' Criminals
The Fun Lovin' Criminals dropped in on assembly
Children at a school where a pupil was killed in an overseas coach crash have been treated to a special gig by a world famous band.

US band the Fun Lovin' Criminals played a surprise concert at Largs Academy, North Ayrshire, on Friday.

Pupils, parents and staff at the school were left shocked by the death of 15-year-old Katherine Fish in June this year.

She died and six pupils and three teachers were seriously injured when their bus overturned on a sliproad near Dijon, central France, on a school trip.

But on Friday youngsters were treated to the gig during an impromptu assembly after winning the show as a result of their involvement in the Coca Cola Sound Project.

The project, which follows Scottish curriculum guidelines, aims to identify budding music industry talent.

Coca Cola spokesman Alan Halliday said: "This was an assembly with a difference.

"The gig offered Largs pupils a unique and memorable experience and we hope they enjoyed the show."

Five different schools won a week of work experience with prominent Scottish music industry companies before the winners were selected at random.

Largs Academy music teacher Caroline Shedden added: "We were absolutely delighted to host this private gig."

Organisers of the secret gig said the academy had been selected "purely at random".
