Police quell street 'disorder'
Police light
Officers came to the scene from across Cumbria
Nine people were arrested in the early hours of Friday after a disturbance involving up to 200 people.

Police in the county described the incident, which happened in Pow Street in Workington, as a "large-scale disorder".

A number of fights broke out at 0215 BST, and officers from across the town were called to the scene.

Batons, CS spray, and a police dog were used in regaining control of the situation.

Police officers from Workington were joined by colleagues from Keswick, Maryport, Whitehaven and Cleator Moor along with mobile support units.

Nine people were arrested on charges of affray, public disorder and being drunk and disorderly.

No police were injured and officers say those arrested will appear before West Allerdale Magistrates.
