Mr Blake is pleading not guilty to killing his wife

Two guns have been found in the house of Robert Blake, the Hollywood actor charged with killing his wife.

The first of the weapons was found in the barn of Mr Blake's Los Angeles home by a man removing gym equipment. It was in a wooden box behind a stereo cabinet, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Police then searched his home and found a .38 calibre revolver, ammunition and the will of Mr Blake's adult daughter, Delinah, as well as other items including a holster, a videotape and a 22-inch bar with a black handle.

Mr Blake, 69, has spent the last six months in jail after being charged with shooting his wife Bonny Lee Bakley in a car outside a Los Angeles restaurant in May 2001.

The search affidavit used by the police said "the gun in the barn may be the gun" that Blake is alleged to have shown to two stuntmen he tried to hire to kill his wife.

Mr Blake is best known as the lead actor in the 1970s cop show Baretta. He has so far pleaded not guilty to the charge of killing his wife.

Detective Ron Ito wrote "recovery of that firearm will give us information regarding the kinds of ammunition the Defendant Blake used and the sources of Defendant Blake's firearms".

Mr Ito added that the discovery of the box led him to believe the house "may yet contain documents or photographs which pertain to Defendant Blake's plot to... kill his wife".

But Mr Blake's attorney, Harland Braun, claims the defence team knew about the guns a year ago and offered to surrender them to police.

Mr Blake, who has been denied bail, has been accused of shooting his wife with a World War II-era German pistol that was found in a dumpster near the crime scene.

Police had previously searched the actor's house in April.
