Family appeal after body found
Scotland Yard
The body was discovered on Tuesday evening
A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man whose body was discovered at his north west London home by his family.

Daniel Keats, 49, died from head injuries, a post-mortem examination showed.

Members of his family discovered the body at about 2014 BST on Tuesday at his home in Turner Drive in Hampstead Garden Suburbs.

Scotland Yard said officers went round after becoming concerned that he had not been in regular contact with his family which was described as unusual.

We cannot believe that someone could do something like this to him

Family statement

The 35-year-old is currently being held in custody at a north London police station.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Lee, leading the investigation, said: "I would appeal to anyone who has information in relation to this attack to contact police.

"I'm particularly interested to hear from Daniel's friends who may be able to help us to determine his lifestyle and his habits.

"There is nothing to suggest at this stage that entry was forced, however this is still a line of inquiry that we are pursuing and we are not ruling out that possibility at the present time."

Open mind

In a statement the victims family said they were "totally devastated by the tragic and senseless loss of Daniel", who they described as a gentle person.

The statement said: "We cannot believe that someone could do something like this to him.

"We can only hope that Daniel did not suffer too much.

"We ask for anyone who may have information that could assist the police in any way to come forward."
