Man arrested over China murder
Tom Dawson
Tom Dawson was on an eight-month tour of Asia
Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a London graduate whose body was found near the Great Wall of China.

Tom Dawson, 24, from Fulham, west London, suffered head injuries and his body was dumped in a ravine.

Police in the capital Beijing arrested Li Ying, 24, after tracking him down to a hotel near the Wall.

A credit card and 10 travellers checks belonging to Mr Dawson were found on him.

Birthday celebrations

Police say he told them he found Mr Dawson sleeping in an abandoned tower along the Wall and tried to rob him.

Great Wall of China
The Great Wall is a huge tourist attraction
But when Mr Dawson woke up, he stabbed him. His body was discovered on 2 October.

Mr Dawson left the UK in September for an eight-month tour of Asia.

He told his family he intended to celebrate his birthday on 29 September with a visit to the Great Wall.

The crime was a major shock as violent crime towards foreigners is rare in China, especially at major tourist sites.

Thousands of visitors a day go to Badaling - the section of the wall which Mr Dawson was visiting - which is about 45 miles (70 kilometres) north of Beijing
