Police plea to missing girl
Missing teenager Jenna Baldwin
Jenna Baldwin, 15, was last seen on 10 September
The man leading the investigation into the disappearance of a teenager from south Wales has made a direct appeal for her to get in touch.

Chief Inspector John Oliver of Gwent Police, made a plea for Jenna Baldwin, 15, to contact her family.

It follows a new text message send to her mother Desiree, on Tuesday - exactly six weeks since she was last seen at her home in Abersychan, near Pontypool.

Police are convinced it was sent by the missing schoolgirl despite believing that earlier phone calls and texts answered by her mother and 10-year-old brother, were a "cruel hoax".

Chief Insp Oliver said: "So many people are missing you and need to know that you are safe.

"The contact that has been made has helped and has raised your mother's hopes that you are safe and well.

"But the message to your brother was whispered and other messages have not been very clear.

"We need to hear from you Jenna.

"Mum feels certain that it is you trying to make contact but we still need to satisfy ourselves that you are safe.

"If you are unable to speak to us directly then please send your mum something as a sign you are safe and well," he said.

He said that police are keeping an open mind about Jenna's disappearance and are following up more than five hundred lines of enquiries.

During the summer holidays, Jenna made some new friends and was not looking forward to returning to school.

She was also apparently apprehensive about a planned move to a bigger home which the family have now completed.

Mrs Baldwin has said she wanted her daughter to know the family was sorry for anything she had been unhappy about.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Pontypool Police on 01495 764711
