Father tells of daughter's rape
Police searching for clues
Police from four forces are involved in the inquiry
The father of a 10-year-old rape victim will make a television appeal for help to catch a serial sex attacker.

He says the girl, who was abducted in Ashford, Kent, in November 2001, still fears that her attacker is watching her and will strike again.

The attack itself is to be reconstructed on the BBC's Crimewatch UK on Thursday.

The schoolgirl was one of the victims of a man who has attacked nine women and girls in the south of England.

We are just trying to get on with life and we can't do that until he is caught

Her father is speaking out to help Operation Orb, which has brought together 100 officers from four police forces to catch the rapist, who has struck in Kent, Surrey, London and Berkshire.

The father said: "She says 'I know he's not there. I know he's not watching me but he could be.'

"When he went over to her and carried her off she said perhaps she should have screamed or shouted, but we've told her she did everything right.

"We are just trying to get on with life and we can't do that until he is caught."

Timetable of attacks
15 Nov, 2001: Ashford, Kent
1 July, 2002: Bracknell, Berks
11 July, 2002: Earlswood, Surrey, and Putney Heath
16 July, 2002: Woking, Surrey
6 Aug, Wimbledon Common
7 Aug, 2002: Epsom, Surrey
6 Sep, 2002: Woking, Surrey
16 Sep, 2002: Ripley Green, Surrey

Detectives believe the rapist is responsible for eight rapes and one assault on women and girls in the last eight months.

One of the victims attacked in Surrey, a 26-year-old woman, has spoken of her anger that children are also being assaulted.

She said: "It made me really angry and sad. I mean, even for me I was scared for my life.

"I thought he was going to kill me so I don't know with the children what was in their minds."

The 10-year-old girl was snatched from outside the Ray Allen Community Centre on the Stanhope Estate in Ashford and raped on nearby wasteland on 15 November 2001.

Knife fear

A 52-year-old victim, who was raped on Wimbledon Common in August 2002, has also been interviewed by the Crimewatch team and a reconstruction of that attack will be broadcast.

"I heard him slashing at my clothes and I was just paralysed with fear. I didn't know if he'd slash me, so I just... just...you know, let him get on with it.

"I really thought I don't just want to be a dead body that's found on Wimbledon Common."

A profile of the attacker will also be featured on the programme alongside reconstructions of another attack in Earlswood, Surrey.

Crimewatch UK will be broadcast on BBC One at 2100 BST.
