TV appeal over bones find
The life-size clay head model of the man
The clay model was made at Manchester University
Police investigating the discovery of human bones in Chorley are to appeal for information on the BBC Crimewatch programme.

A clay model of the head of the man, whose remains were found in a pond near Charnock Richard, was unveiled this week.

Detectives believe the man, who had suffered severe head injuries, was probably murdered.

An appeal is to be broadcast on BBC's Crimewatch programme on Thursday night.

Asian origin

The model of his head was created by experts at Manchester University.

Detectives now know the man, who was of Asian origin, had a deformity to his legs that was probably a result of a childhood disease.

His remains were found on 26 July this year, by a woman who was walking her dog in a field off Back Lane.

More than 30 officers are working on the case from an incident room set up at Chorley police station.

It is thought the victim was aged between 20 and 30 when he died. He was between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8ins tall and of slender build.

The exact cause of his death has not been established.
