Police inquiry over 'TV star rape claim'
Ulrika claims the attack left her in hospital
Police have confirmed that a woman has made a formal complaint of rape against a man believed to be at the centre of separate allegations made by the television personality Ulrika Jonsson.
Although she has never named the alleged attacker, a television presenter, a man was inadvertently named on Five (formerly Channel 5) television on Wednesday morning. The allegations surfaced earlier this month following the publication of Jonsson's autobiography. In subsequent interviews and a Channel 4 documentary she claimed she was raped on a date 14 years ago by a man who now works on national television. She also claimed that other women had been attacked by the man. 'Quite ill' The City of London police say that a woman - not Jonsson - has subsequently made a formal complaint to them and they are investigating. It is believed to be the same man Jonsson has been alluding to. In the documentary, The Truth About Men, Jonsson said: "It frightened me a lot. I became quite ill for a period after that." She also claimed she was in hospital for five days following the alleged assault. The Five broadcaster who let the name slip during a live programme on Wednesday has apologised for the mistake.
