Slower driving urged for fire strike
A road in Cambridge
The Health Authority urges caution on the road
Motorists in Cambridgeshire are being asked to slow down during the planned firefighters' strikes.

The death rate on the county's roads is about three times the national average.

Health officials want to reduce the risk of major accidents - where firefighters would normally be called out to assist.

Dr Tony Jewell, director of public health for Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire Strategic Health Authority, is making the call for drivers to take extra care.

During the planned strikes, the Army will be on standby to provide cover with Green Goddess fire engines which do not have specialist cutting equipment often used at accident scenes.

Firefighters are planning to begin the series of walk outs on 29 October.
