Dandy price for comic
A rare comic sold for more than twice its estimated value at an auction at Worksop on Sunday.
A copy of the first edition of the Dandy, which was published in 1937, fetched £3,000. Martin Hamer from Hamer Actions says he was delighted with the results of the auction. The comic was found in a pile of magazines in a trunk after the death of the owner.
Travel experts visit county Delegates from all over Britain have spent the day in Nottinghamshire learning why the county is considered to be a good place to travel in. The county council has gained national recognition for its transport planning. This includes the reopening of the Robin Hood line and dozens of new cycle routes. The county council says it is all about sharing good ideas.
Military band will play on A new campaign has begun to secure the future of a Nottinghamshire military band. Four years ago the South Nottinghamshire Hussars lost their funding from the Ministry of Defence, putting a 200-year-old tradition at risk. Now the band has been given a new home at the Territorial Army base on Hucknall Lane, and is looking to recruit new members. Captain Bob Privett, from the TA, says the loss of the performers would have been a tragedy. |
