Murder victim 'got lost on the Tube'
Northern Line
The men had got on the wrong Northern Line train
A man who was visiting London from Nottinghamshire was murdered after finding himself "in the wrong place at the wrong time".

Thomas Scott, a 35-year-old antiques dealer from Newark was attacked as he and his half-brother left Kentish Town station in north London.

Mr Scott had been visiting his brother, who lives in north London, but the pair got the wrong train home after a night out.

Mr Scott was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and died on Tuesday.

His life has been taken away from him for no good reason

Maria Ryan, sister

Police say it is unclear how many attackers there were or whether any weapons were used.

They say the two men were blameless and were simply "in the wrong place at the wrong time" when the attack happened at 0040 BST on Sunday.

Mr Scott's sister, Maria Ryan, said: "He was a brilliant young man and well-loved brother and his life has been taken away from him for no good reason."

Witness appeal

After walking out of the station they looked for a bus or taxi as the trains had stopped for the night.

They were attacked by a group of men and Mr Scott suffered serious head injuries, and his half-brother a broken nose.

Detective Chief Inspector Gordon Green from the Metropolitan Police Serious Crimes Group is appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"It appears the brothers were only there as a result of taking the wrong branch of the Tube and thus found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time."
