Model jailed for restaurant murder
Williams claimed she was afraid of Mr Lamont
A former glamour model who stabbed her boyfriend to death in a restaurant has been jailed for life.
Stephanie Williams, 30, formerly of Netherley, Merseyside, stabbed John Lamont through the heart with a steak knife after a row. Williams was found guilty of murder at Liverpool Crown Court. Mr Lamont, 22, collapsed following the attack in Chapel Brook restaurant, Huyton, and died later in Whiston Hospital. Drug dealing Williams claimed she was afraid of her boyfriend and shouted "you know why" at his family in court. The court heard that Williams was left waiting alone in the restaurant for an hour while Mr Lamont attended to some business.
Williams believed he was dealing drugs and when he returned a heated row broke out. Williams then picked up the steak knife, the jury was told. She told the court that she did not intend to kill Mr Lamont. He was stabbed in the collarbone with a blow which penetrated nine centimetres into his heart. Williams said she did not approve of Mr Lamont dealing drugs and was concerned about her six-year-old son. The jury heard that Mr Lamont had previously been to prison for dealing drugs. Mr Lamont's family said he was a "caring lad with a great sense of humour and generous nature". 'Disgraceful' behaviour In a statement they added: "He will be greatly missed by every one of his family and friends." Mr Tony Lamont, his father, said Williams' behaviour was "disgraceful". He added: "I am not interested in her. She is out of our lives now. "We expected a guilty verdict and are very happy with the conclusion."
