Representatives of international aid donors known as the Paris Club are holding preliminary meetings in the Ugandan capital Kampala ahead of talks with the government due to begin on Wednesday.

The twenty-seven donor nations are meeting to allocate aid to various sectors of the economy.

Correspondents say that issues likely to be high on the agenda include government corruption and increased military spending to finance Ugandan military operations taking placeacross the border in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
