Australia hit by Healy injury ![]() Ian Healy sets a new world record in Pakistan Record-breaker Ian Healy is doubtful for the third Ashes Test in Adelaide after complaining of a thigh strain.
He has also made 1,194 runs in 30 Ashes appearances against England, including a century in the drawn first Test at Brisbane. The Australian selectors have summoned Adam Gilchrist, who replaced Healy in their one-team last year, to Adelaide as cover. Leg-spinner Stuart MacGill is expected to return to the side and Healy's absence behind the stumps would be a blow to his chances of success. But he remains determined to prove that he is more than just a fill-in bowler while Shane Warne regains full fitness following surgery on his right shoulder. "I've got a pretty hard attitude towards myself. I push myself all the time and maybe too hard at times.I always try and get wickets and bowl well and I just get a little disappointed in myself if I'm not doing that because I know I can do it now," said MacGill. "The key is to stay philosophical about it and remember that I'm sure I'll bowl well at some stage of the game - that's when it's good to have all the experienced blokes in the side around to give advice when I need it." Australia squad(from): M A Taylor (Capt), M J Slater, J L Langer, M E Waugh, S R Waugh, R T Ponting, I A Healy (wkt), A Gilchrist (wkt) D W Fleming, C R Miller, G D McGrath, S C G MacGill, J N Gillespie. |
