The French sculptor, Cesar, has died, at at age of seventy-seven after a long illness.
He was known for sculptures made out of scrap metal.
Cesar Baldaccini made his breakthrough during the fifties with metal sculptures of animals and nudes.
His latest major work was a wall compiled of a huge pile of scrap cars weighing five-hundred-and-twenty-tons.
It was shown at the 1995 Venice Bienniale.
