Crash baby's brothers 'stable'
Fire truck and car collided on the Derrylin Road
Fire truck and car collided on the Derrylin Road
The two brothers of a baby girl killed in a road accident in County Fermanagh are in a stable condition in hospital.

The boys, aged eight weeks and three years, were in a car with their sister when it was in collision with a fire engine outside Enniskillen on Monday.

Their childminder, who was driving the car, is also in a stable condition.

Ciara Marie Lee, aged 21 months, from Ballyconnell, County Cavan, in the Republic of Ireland, died at the scene of the accident on the Derrylin Road.

The thoughts and the prayers of the Fire Brigade personnel are with the family of the baby girl who died and also with those injured

The Toyota car in which she was a passenger was in collision with the fire appliance on its way from Enniskillen to take cutting gear to the scene of another accident.

Two firefighters were also taken to hospital but were later discharged.

The police and Northern Ireland Fire Service have launched separate investigations into the crash.

In a statement the fire service said it would conduct its own "full investigation into the cause of the collision".

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Jack Kennedy said everyone involved had been shocked by the accident.

"We would just like to say that the brigade would extend its sympathy and condolences to the Lee family at this time," he said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the other casualties who were injured and we wish them a speedy recovery."

Police inspector John Maxwell said all of his officers' thoughts were with the child's family.
