Man remanded on assault charge
A man has appeared in court in County Armagh accused of causing grevious bodily harm to another man at the weekend.

James Michael Feeney, 46, of Millar Park, Laurencetown, Banbridge, appeared before Armagh Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

It is understood the charge is connected with an alleged assault in Banbridge which left a man critically injured on Sunday.

Mr Feeney, a general labourer, is accused of unlawfully and maliciously causing grevious bodily harm to Robert Abbott.

Affray

A detective told the court when charged Feeney replied; "I'd just like to say, he came over and hit my son. I pushed him away"

He was remanded in custody to a further hearing at Newry Magistrates court on 9 October.

A second man has been charged with affray and is expected to appear in court on Thursday.

Three other men questioned in connection with the incident have been released while the police continue their inquiries.
