Father injected his son with AIDS-tainted blood

A medical worker in the United States has been found guilty of injecting his eleven-month-old son with AIDS-tainted blood.

A jury in Missouri convicted the man, Brian Stewart, of assault and recommended that he spend the rest of his life in prison.

He is to be sentenced early next year.

Prosecutors alleged he intended to kill his son to avoid paying child support.

The boy, who's now seven, was diagnosed with AIDS four years later.

His mother said he needed extensive care and had been near death several times.

If the boy dies his father could then be charged with murder.
