Detective suspended over child porn claims

A detective arrested on suspicion of using a child pornograhpy website has been suspended from the Essex police force.

Detective Constable Chris Lacey was one of six men arrested in Essex on 26 September.

He was taken into custody following the receipt of information provided by US authorities.

Mr Lacey, who is based at Colchester police station, has now been released on police bail until March.

The officer had worked on the investigation into the disappearance of 15-year-old Danielle Jones from Tilbury.

A spokeswoman for Essex Police said Mr Lacey had been suspended "on full pay pending the outcome of the investigation."

She added that this was "normal procedure".
