Man arrested over 1976 murder
Police tape
The arrest follows a re-enactment on BBC's Crimewatch
A 71-year-old man has been arrested in Hastings over a murder committed 26 years ago.

Newsagent Geoffrey Small was shot dead on 6 September 1976 at Sutton.

Metropolitan Police Serious Crime Group detectives arrested the elderly man on Monday morning.

The arrest follows a reconstruction of the crime screened on BBC's Crimewatch on 26 September this year.

Broken glass

The man is being questioned at a south London police station.

Mr Small was murdered at 0530 BST as he opened his newsagency in Westmead Road, Sutton.

He was shot in the chest and head by someone using a handgun.

The killer had broken into the flat at the back of the shop by breaking a pane of glass and opening a window, then waited until Mr Small arrived.
