An information appeal has been made by police
Detectives have found a stolen car used in an attempted armed robbery in south Wales.

South Wales Police revealed on Sunday that the car used by three men in a foiled raid at the Dylan Thomas restaurant in Samlet Road, Llansamlet, Swansea, on Friday was discovered burned-out at Kilvey Hill on Sunday.

Inquiries showed that the car, a silver Ford Orion, had been stolen from outside the Abertawe Ale House in Oystermouth Road, on the night of the raid.

Forensic experts are preparing to examine the vehicle for evidence.

Detective Inspector Mark Finch has warned that anyone coming into contact with the men involved should not approach them.

"These three men were armed when they entered the pub and therefore must be considered dangerous," he said.

The men, who were wearing balaclavas, burst through the back entrance of the restaurant at 2330 BST on Friday.

They demanded keys to the safe and threatened people working in the restaurant.

One member of staff needed hospital treatment after being kicked in the head.

When staff said they did not have the access to the safe, the men left empty-handed in the stolen car.

'Brandished'

Police investigating the attempted robbery are urging the public not to approach the men and are appealing for information.

"This was a particularly nasty incident," he added.

"A single-barrelled shotgun was brandished and the staff are badly traumatised by what happened."

"We are urging people to be extremely cautious."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Swansea Central's confidential crime hotline on 01792 450631 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
