West Bank clashes over prisoner releases

There've been clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian youths on the West Bank.

Twenty-five demonstrators and three soldiers were injured.

The clashes came during a day of demonstrations by Palestinians who are pressing for the release of prisoners held by the Israelis.

The prisoners themselves are beginning a mass hunger strike.

Israel had agreed that prisoners should be released as part of the peace process, But the BBC Middle East correspondent says the Palestinians are infuriated that most so far set free have been common criminals.
