Seven killed in Algeria
Security officials in Algeria say seven people have been killed by suspected Islamic militants in an area west of the capital, Algiers.
The attack is reported to have taken place in the region of Relizane, about 300 kilometres (190 miles) from Algiers, where correspondents say the Armed Islamist Group (GIA) is active. More than 100,000 people have been killed in fighting between the military-backed government and Islamist insurgents in the last 10 years. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
