Organisers of an anti-war protest in central London say up to 400,000 took part in the peaceful demonstration against possible military action in Iraq.
Streams of demonstrators marched from the Embankment to a mass rally in Hyde Park on Saturday
Peace campaigners say the opposition to a military strike against Iraq is mounting
The demonstration represented a broad coalition of people including Muslim community representatives, MPs and pacifists
Organisers Stop the War Coalition and Muslim Association of Britain estimate that 400,000 people took part
Police put the figure at 150,000 and still rising by Saturday afternoon
Protesters say the issues of Iraq and Palestine are inseparable
Mayor Livingstone said the protest would have an "electrifying effect" on the Labour Party Conference
